Jaipur, Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje has directed the officials for ensuring proper supply of safe drinking water during the ongoing summers. She asked for advanced planning of the measures for control of water-borne and seasonal diseases during the severe hot weather and ensuing monsoon. Smt. Raje suggested the district collectors for appointing zonal in-charge officers in water scarce regions for monitoring of water supplies. She said that contingency plans for supply of water be properly implemented and swift action be taken for removing illegal connections on the rising mains of water supply lines. The Chief Minister was intervening while senior officers made presentations on different issues during the three-day District Collector-SP Conference at the Chief Minister's Office on Wednesday. The CM said that supply of drinking water through tankers should be properly monitored using GPS or other technologies.  "Adequate funds have been  sanctioned for maintenance of water supply lines in all districts," she said while suggesting for setting-up of district-level control rooms and timely redressal of water-related grievances. Smt. Raje expressed concerns on delay in disposal of applications related to citizen services and complaints of public grievances. She said that the officials concerned should take such matters very seriously. She asked the members of the Council of Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries to gather regular feedback on this during their monthly meetings and inform the senior officers concerned whenever negligence was noticed. The Chief Minister also articulated her worries about delay in completion of watershed structures under the Mukhyamantri Jal Sawavlamban Abhiyan. She said that this innovative scheme would prove to be game-changer for conservation of water in the state. She further warned the collectors and other officers against compromise on quality of construction works.  Smt. Raje also directed for doing plantation around the newly developed water conservation structures soon after June 30. She asked the collectors to take help and support of the local people as well and ensure proper maintenance of green patches thus developed through plantation. The CM suggested for ensuring maximum participation of farmers for the proposed Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet (GRAM-2016), to be held in November. She said that farmers from each village panchayat across the state should be invited for this meeting. For this, arrangements should be made at the district and state-level, she added. Smt.
