Jammu: Pakistani troops resorted to “unprovoked firing” at Indian
positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, the military
said Sunday.
The firing took place in Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch
district Saturday night, defence ministry spokesman Col. Manish Mehta told
here.The Pakistani firing began at 10.35 p.m. at Nangi Tikri battalion area.
“No damage or casualty has been reported on our side,” the official said.The
violation of the 2003 India-Pakistan ceasefire in the region came on a day the
Indian Army killed two separatist guerrillas in Poonch district and seized a
huge cache of arms and ammunition.
The seized material included two AK-47 rifles, 240 rounds
of ammunition, eight AK-47 magazines, a grenade launcher, three grenades, a
claymore mine and two detonators.In the past 10 days, Pakistani troops have
thrice violated the bilateral ceasefire on the LoC.
