Seven killed in militant attack in Assam's Kokrajhar district

Guwahati, Seven people, including two children and four women, were killed on Friday in an attack by suspected NDFB (Songbijit) militants in a village in Kokrajhar under Bodoland Territorial Administrative District (BTAD) of Assam.

A group of heavily armed extremists swooped down on two houses in Balaparajan Village-1 under Goreswar police station at around 1 AM and opened indescriminate fire, killing 7 persons on the spot, IGP L R Bishnoi told Here.The two injured men have been admitted to a hospital in a serious condition, he said.

A joint combing operation by the police and paramilitary forces has been launched in the area to track down the assailants, official sources said.Last night, another group of NDFB-S ultras in Daksa district of BTAD had gunned down three persons, including two women, and injured an infant.
