Jaipur, The Governor
deisgnate Shri Kalyan Singh was sworn in as the Governor of Rajasthan at a
function held in Rajbhawan. here on Thursday. Shri Singh took the oath of
office and secrecy in the name of God in the presence of the Acting Chief
Justice of the Rajasthan High Court Shri Sunil Ambwani. Shri Singh took the
oath in Hindi language.
The Chief Secretary Shri Rajiv Mehrishi read out
the Warrant of Appointment issued by the President Shri Pranab Mukherjee and
requested Shri Singh to take the oath. After being sworn in, the Governor
inspected the Guard of Honour. The wife of Governer Smt. Ramwati, his son &
MP Shri Rajveer Singh and other family members were also present on the
occasion.
The Swearing in ceremony was attended by the
Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje, Speaker of Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha Shri
Kailash Meghwal, former Chief Ministers Shri Ashok Gehlot and Shri Jagannath
Pahadia, Public Representatives, Judges, Additional Chief Secretaries, various
dignitaries and other senior officers.
BIO DATA- SHRI KALYAN
SING
Kalyan Singh was
born on 5th January, 1932 at Madhauli Village in Aligarh
district of Uttar Pradesh. Shri Singh secured B.A., L.T. from DS Degree College, Aligarh.
Singh became the
chief minister of Uttar Pradesh twice firstly in year 1991 and then in
1997. He was also nominated as the Leader of Opposition in Uttar
Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Shri Singh was elected for the Lok
Sabha in two successive terms, 1991 and 1997. He was the Chairman of
the Rural Development Committee and a member of the Committee of Defence.
Kalyan Singh
started his legislative career in year 1967 as a member of Uttar Pradesh
Legislative Assembly. He became the Minister of State for Health in Uttar
Pradesh in 1977. He was elected six times for the state legislative assembly
from 1985 to 2002. He also remained the National Vice President of Bharatiya
Janata Party and the State President and Secretary General of the party in
Uttar Pradesh.
During emergency, Shri
Kalyan Singh was imprisioned in Aligarh, Naini and Banaras jails. He has
special interest in reading, kabaddi and tennis sports. He has visited
Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.
