Jaipur, As a part of the efforts of the State to
promote investment opportunities in Rajasthan, the Chief Minister, Smt.
Vasundhara Raje, met with ambassadors and senior diplomats from various countries
at an event organized in New Delhi today by the state government in association
with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The Chief Minister was accompanied by the
Minister for Industries, Gajendra Singh Khimsar; the Chief Secretary, C. S.
Rajan; the Principal Secretary of Industries and Managing Director, Rajasthan
State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation Ltd (RIICO), Smt.
Veenu Gupta; Principal Secretary Tourism, Shri S.K. Agarwal; and the Principal
Secretary Mines & Petroleum, Shri Ashok Singhvi.
The Japanese Ambassador, Mr. Takeshi Yagi; the
Singapore High Commissioner Mr. Lim ThuanKuan; the Korean Ambassador MrJoon-gyu
Lee; the Danish Ambassador Mr. FreddySvane; the Malaysian High Commissioner Mr.
DatukNaimunAshakli Bin Mohammad; the Spanish Ambassador Mr.Gustavo de
Aristegui; the United Arab Emirates AmbassadorMr. SaedAlMheiri; andthe
Slovenian Ambassador Ms. DarjaBavdažKuret, among others, were present at the
event.
The Chief Minister explained the strengths of the
Rajasthan economy and the direction of some of the policies initiated by her
government.
Chief Minister Raje said, “Rajasthan is now
writing its growth story. From simplifying and rationalizing regulations to
establishing associations at the global level in technological, industrial as
well as social spheres, we have always put the happiness quotient of all our
stakeholders at the centre of our development strategy.
She added, “We have completely revitalized our
policy framework. Our Solar Policy is already receiving accolades. Our
government has already shown the way forward in enhancing the ease of doing
business through our landmark labour reforms and an efficient single window
clearance system. Today, we have launched a new Mineral Policy and Tourism Unit
Policy. The essence of all our efforts lies in the creation of an enabling,
conducive and thriving environment for businesses, enterprises and industries
that leads to generation of job opportunities for our youth, nurturing of our
MSMEs, improved capabilities for our farmers, value-added educational and
health services and much more. Rajasthan is where all the excitement is. There
can be no better time to invest in Rajasthan than now!”
TheChief Minister also extended an invitation to
the dignitaries to attend the Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit, slated to
be held in Jaipur on November 19-20, 2015.
Industries Minister Gajendra Singh said, “A
number of factors make Rajasthan an ideal destination for investment in
industry. Being the largest state in the Union with a comfortable population
density, Rajasthan can provide land for industry with ease. We have surplus
power and are blessed with 79 varieties of minerals, of which 58 are being
commercially mined. We have a geographical advantage because of which 327
industrial areas have been setup over 19,200 acres. More such parks will come
up once the Dedicated Freight Corridor, under the Delhi Mumbai Industrial
Corridor, is operational.”
Chief Secretary C.S. Rajan said, “Rajasthan has
24x7 availability of power throughout the year and has abundant raw material
and land for setting up industries. Investors in the state have direct access
to five major states of India with a combined population of 385 million. We
have the second largest network of National Highways in India, a strong rail
network of 5,822 km; and three airports offering domestic and international
connectivity.”
Principal Secretary – Industries Veenu Gupta,
who made a presentation to the dignitaries, said, “In Rajasthan, you will find
a good mix of leading foreign and domestic companies, large and small
enterprises, traditional and sunrise sectors. We have made far reaching changes
in our industrial, labour and investment policies. The Rajasthan Investment
Promotion Scheme (RIPS) 2014 provides for attractive financial incentives and
subsidies for investors.”
The Chief Minister unveiled the new Tourism Unit
and Mineral policies of the state government at the event.
Sharing the salient features of the new Tourism
Unit Policy 2015, Principal Secretary – Tourism, S.K. Agarwal, said, “Our
attempt has been to incentivize private players to take up new projects by
broadening the category of Tourism Units, simplifying land conversion and
rationalising taxation. We have also recognized the role of private players in
the training and skilling of manpower. It is expected that the new Tourism Unit
Policy will induce fresh investments and revitalize the existing industry.”
Details of the highly-anticipated Rajasthan
Mineral Policy-2015 were also provided to the audience. Said Principal
Secretary – Mines & Petroleum Ashok Singhvi, “The period of mining lease
will be 50 years from the date of initial grant, which can be subsequently
extended twice for a 20 year period, subject to a maximum lease period of 90
years. Benefits under the RIPS scheme shall be extended to encourage value
addition and setting up of industry. International prospecting companies shall
also be invited to identify mineral resources for development.”
Mr. Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General CII
added that the Resurgent Rajasthan will set new landmarks for growth and
development in the country as well as internationally to attract investments.
CII has been working closely with the state government in providing sectoral
policy inputs and sharing best practices. “Today’s Ambassadors’ Roundtable is a
unique endeavor to bring together select Ambassadors, High Commissioners and
senior diplomats to meet and interact with the top team of the State government
for future collaborations."

About Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit
The Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit,
scheduled to be held in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India on November 19-20, 2015, will
bring together leading investors from all over the world for interacting with
policy makers, including the political leadership, government officials and
local business leaders on the investment environment and opportunities in
Rajasthan. The summit is being organized by the Government of Rajasthan in
association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The summit will
have thematic seminars, conventions, panel discussions, discussion forums, B2B
& B2G meetings, exhibition pavilions and other networking programmes. The
