Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje has said that a state level campaign would be
launched next month for strengthening power sector. This campaign would mainly
focus on safe and quality supply of power, electricity connections, early disposal of grievances and reduction of
transmission and distribution losses.
Smt. Raje was addressing a gathering of the State and
district-level administrative officials at Indira Gandhi Panchayati Raj
Sansthan on Friday. This event was arranged in the sidelines of the District
Collectors and Superintendents of Police Conference, when a presentation was
given on the proposed campaign by the power sector.
During this, the CM said that there had been no efforts for
improvisation of power network during five years rule of the previous
government. This resulted in total damage to the power distribution network.
Presently, the state faced a challenging situation in power sector. District
Collectors and public representatives were needed to have active role in
dealing with situation, she said.
Principal Secretary Sanjay Malhotra gave the presentation on
'Present Status and Challenges of the Power Sector and Expectation from the
District Officials and the Public Representatives for Their Resolution'. He
said that camps would be held at four places each in every sub-division from
August 16 to September 27 for issuance of electricity connections in time-bound
manner. During the campaign works would be carried out for improvement of
distribution network and the sub-stations. Physical verification of all such
works would also be carried out during the campaign.
Members of the Council of Ministers, Members of the State
Assembly, Chief Secretary, Principal Secretaries, District Collectors and other
officials were also present during this.
