Bikaner, A ‘Know Your Army’ Mela was organised by the Ranbankura Division at the Medical College Grounds at Bikaner on 11 and 12 August 2015. The aim of this display was to spread awareness and educate people especially the youth regarding the culture, ethos and war fighting potential of Indian Army. Over 4000 school children and teachers belonging to different schools and colleges of Bikaner participated in the exhibition. During the exhibition, a number of sophisticated weapons and war fighting equipment was displayed for the general population. The exhibition was inaugurated on 11 August 2015 by the General Officer Commanding, Ranbankura Division, alongwith Army, Air Force, Para Military Forces and civilian dignitaries in attendance.

 The General Officer, during his welcome address, applauded the contribution of the people of Rajasthan towards national security. He further brought out that youth are the pillars of the Nation and that there is no better way than to serve the Nation by joining the ranks and files of the Indian Army. Armoured fighting vehicles, artillery guns, surveillance and communication equipment, infantry weapons and engineer equipment were on display during the event. The exhibition also included a pipe band display, an equestrian display by NCC cadets and demonstrations of various military drills. This event in Bikaner township and adjoining areas was organised after many years and was a great opportunity for the people to get a first hand feel of our capabilities. The exhibition was appreciated by all the participants and was yet another endeavour for increasing awareness amongst school children and in attracting youth to join the Armed Forces.
