Udhampur (J&K) ,To commemorate golden jubilee year of Army Wives Welfare Association
(AWWA) a National Integration Tour (NIT) of 25 Veer Naris(War widows) from the
state of J&K was flagged in by Mrs Upma Rai, Chairperson, Family
Welfare Organisation (FWO) at Udhampur today. The tour was flagged off by Mrs
Rashmi Hooda , Regional President AWWA, Northern Command on 7 October.
The six days tour was to promote the spirit of integration and inspire goodwill amongst the veer naris and improve their historical knowledge by their visit to Rashtrapathi Bhavan, India Gate, Red Fort, Qutab Minar, Lotus Temple, Akshardham Temple, Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. The tour gave the Veer Naris of J&K State an opportunity to meet and interact with ladies and families of Army establishments at New Delhi and Agra.The veer naris had an interaction with Mrs Namita Suhag, President AWWA at New Delhi.
The AWWA,
Northern Command has chartered for fulfilling the societal obligation through
social empowerment and skill building of spouses, veer naris, dependents of
Army personnel since inception. It also aims at the holistic development and
well-being of veer naris of J&K state, which is reeling under the impact of
terrorism since long time. To mitigate personal and domestic problems of veer
naris and to ensure personal healing touch and emotional support, AWWA Northern
Command has taken personal interest in instituting various major and micro
ventures for the welfare of veer naris all over the state.
