KONARK AIR DEFENCE BRIGADE CELEBRATES ITS GOLDEN JUBILEE

 Jodhpur, The Konark Air Defence Brigade on its Golden Jubilee Celebrations, conducted a Sainik Sammelan today.  Addressing a gatering during the Special Sainik Sammelan, Lt Gen VK Saxena, Director General Army Air Defence & Senior Colonel Commandant, underpinned the professional excellence and achievements of Konark Air Defence Brigade since its raising.  The General highlighted the outstanding contributions of the Brigade during the various active operations including the Indo-Pak wars of 1965 & 1971.  The chequered service profile of the formation in different theatres of the country in last 50 years was also brought out.  The Director General also highlighted the criticality of Air Defence as a component of war fighting in the modern battlefield milieu where air dimension will play a major role in victory.

            The Konark Air Defence Brigade was raised on 01 May 1964 at Guwahati.  Since, its raising it has participated in all major operations to include Op Ablaze, Op Riddle, Op Cactus Lily, Op Vijay and Op Parakram.  The Formation presently serving under the Desert Corps benchmarked its Golden Jubilee with a series of events.  The major events, conducted include a Land Yatching Expedition, Gaurav Senani Rally, Career Counseling Fair for children and a Sainik Bhoj.  The prime focus of events during the celebrations has been to revive the bounds of association, rejuvenate spirit of sports and adventure and promote the core values of Army.

 On this momentous occasion, the Director General exhorted all ranks to rededicate themselves to achieve highest standards of professional excellence and dedication to service.  The event culminated in spirited war cry of ‘Akashe Shatrun Jahi’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’.
