(J&K),In pursuance of the motto “PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE” The Command
Military Dental Centre (CMDC) under the aegis of Northern Command had under
taken a comprehensive 10 days oral health survey of young school children of Army Public School Junior Wing Udhampur which conclude
today. The survey drew an enthusiastic response from the school children as
well as from the faculty of the school.
In an interaction with the school children, Brig Vineet Sharma Commandant CMDC
said that one of the main stays of preventive oral health care strategies is
early detection and regular check-ups. He also emphasized the often neglected
aspect of prevention of developing malocclusion (crooked teeth).
The survey which drew an enthusiastic response from the faculty of the school
was led by Maj Vishvaroop an Orthodontist, and during the
course of this survey all children were examined by the team. Concurrent
interactive sessions with children and teacher’s explaining the importance of
proper brushing technique helped in reinforcing the benefits of oral hygiene
maintenance.
All the children surveyed who have been found to be in need of dental
care will be taken up for treatment according to a drawn up schedule.
Feedback from this important survey will help in reinforcing the importance of
prevention in oral health care among young children and teacher’s alike.
