Udaipur, Lt Gen Ashok Singh, GOC-in-C (Army
Commander), Southern Command visited Udaipur. In addition to over-seeing
the operational readiness and military preparedness of the formation and units
in location, he also reviewed the administrative efficiency of Udaipur Military
Station.
The Army Commander took stock of all the training and welfare related issues
that affect troops posted in the Military Station. A number of
initiatives have been launched under the aegis of Headquarters, Southern
Command to ensure that the quality of life of soldiers and their families
residing in the Military Station witnesses a substantive and qualitative jump.
These include construction of accommodation, married as well as for soldiers
living without families, provision of upgraded schooling facilities, enhanced
medical facilities for serving and retired soldiers and their families, etc.
During the visit the Army Commander reviewed the preparation of station units
in discharging duties as part of aid to civil authorities to include natural
disasters, terrorist strikes etc. He expressed satisfaction that the Army and
the state authorities share an excellent rapport and continuous liaison is
being carried out to thwart any untoward incident.
