Bundi (Rajasthan), Hundreds of patients visiting government hospitals in
the district have been thrown at inconveniences and discomfort for their
medical treatment as a result of ego clash between doctors and ruling Bhartiya
Janta Party (BJP) workers. The dis-arrangements at the hospitals across the
district have forced the patients to measure pillar to poll for medical care
and treatment, for the medical officers of the district with a black band
around their arms as mark of protest and demand for action against the BJP
workers have been examining the patients for last four days in open under a
tent in hospital premises.
Principal
medical Officer (PMO), district government hospital Bundi Gajanand Verma told
some local BJP workers including party’s Bundi city president Sushil Metha,
former municipality vice chairman Anurag Gautam, Bhanwar Singh Tailor and
others reached his office on September 24 and threatened him of life and dire
consequences. The PMO further told the BJP workers were demanding to transfer a
male nurse Narendra Gautam to pediatric ward after he had been shifted to
medical ward of Bundi government hospital. ‘Reshuffling in the medical and
nursing staff was done with an aim to improve the medical arrangements and facilities to the public but
unfortunately it was not acceptable to BJP workers’, further said PMO Dr.
Gajanand Verma.
Station
House Officer (SHO), Bundi city kotwali Tarun Kant Somani told on the report by
the PMO a case under section 353 and 186 of IPC was lodged against the BJP
leaders but no arrest has been made so far, ‘however the investigation into the
matter is on.’
Bundi City BJP president Sushil Metha
denied the allegations against him and local BJP workers saying ‘all the
allegations by PMO against BJP workers are false and leveled with an aim to
divert the public attention from the mismanagement in the hospital’. Kunjbehari
Billiya, former BJP district president also rejected the allegations by PMO and
said ‘most of the doctors are involved in corrupt practices and blaming party
workers to divert the public attention.’
Meanwhile,
Daikedha police of the district also lodged a case on Tuesday against the
village Sarpanch for misbehaving with a lady doctor at community health centre
(CHC). Station House Officer (SHO) Daikedha police station, Arvind Sharma told
Dr. Manisha Singhal lodged a complain of bullying and threatening her against
the village Sarpanch Khemraj Meena. On the report, a case was lodged against
the Sarpanch under sections 332 and 353 of IPC, SHO Sharma said adding the
investigation into the matter is on.
Meanwhile,
medical officer at public health centre (PHC), Namana Dr. Madhu Singh has also
lodged a complain of misbehavior against a government lady teacher. Namana
police of the district is investigating the case.
Dr. Anil Saini, Bundi district
secretary of All Rajasthan In service Doctors’ Association and its media in
charge Dr. Mahandera Chauhan called a press conference here and expressed
concerns over the rising incidents of
misbehavior and threat to doctors. ‘We want stern action against those who
threatened PMO Dr. Verma of life and dire consequences’ said Dr. Anil Saini and
added they would continue to protest and demand for action with black band
about their arms and examining the patients in open under tent in hospital
premises al long as the action is not taken against the accused.
Interestingly,
after the misbehave by the villagers, medical officer at Namana public health
centre (PHC) Dr. Bhupendra Singh Chuhan resigned from his post about two years
ago.
