Foundation Laying Ceremony
Jaipur,Chief Minister Smt.
Vasundhara Raje has hoped the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Udaipur to
be the best institute of the country by progressing fast in direction of
enhancement of skills and employability of the youth.
Smt. Raje was addressing the foundation stone
laying ceremony of the institute campus at village Balicha in Udaipur on
Friday.
The CM said that the people of Rajasthan were
very promising and they had excelled in all fields be it in export, big
businesses or handicraft. Need of the hour was to link the prestigious history
of the state with its present time and move forward, she said. She further
stated that the main objective of the government to provide opportunities and
resources in the interiors of the state for honing skills of the youth and make
them employable.
Smt. Raje said that the Centres of Excellence
like the IIM should be established at different places in the state for making
the young generation energetic and strong. She pointed that Information
Technology no longer remained a luxury, but had become a necessity of the
present day. She expressed the need for all, including the non-government and
civil society, to join hands with the state government in order to provide
skill development and employment opportunities to 60% youth of the state.
Remembering the former Prime Minister Atal
Bihari Vajpayee on this occasion, the CM emphasized on labour reforms and
better coordination with the leading business houses for providing equal
employment opportunities to all. Recalling the idea of Swacch Bharat of Prime
Minister Shri Narendra Modi, she expressed the need of linking cleanliness,
health and education.
Addressing the ceremony, the Union Minister of
State for Human Resource Development Smt. Smriti Jubin Irani said that IIM
Udaipur was a big step towards realizing the dreams of young generation. She
declared for setting-up a tourism and hospitality centre in the city. The
minister added that IIM Udaipur would be developed as a research centre for
water management based on the best modern techniques.
Smt. Irani said that under Unnat Bharat campaign
the IITs, IIM and the Central Universities were adopting five villages each in
their vicinity and carrying out developmental works. In this regard, IIM
Udaipur too had been asked to adopt nearby villages and lead development of the
region. As India is an agriculture-based economy and the country's soul lived
in its villages, IIM Udaipur would also include topics of agro-based industries
in its curriculum.
During her address, Smt. Irani praised the CM
Smt. Raje for her leadership skills for making the state progress and
empowered. She said that the God had given strength to pull out Rajasthan from
deprivation and she would surely bring the state in the forefront.
Prior to this, the CM and the Union Minister
laid the foundation stone for the IIM campus spread in 300-acres area. Chairman
of the Board of Governors of the institute Shri C.K Birla welcomed the
dignitaries. Member of Parliament Shri Arjun Lal Meena, MLA Shri Phool Singh
Meena and Director of IIM Udaipur Shri Janat Shah were also present on this
occasion among others.
