Jodhpur, A book ‘Reflections of A Soldier’ authored by Ajit Singh was released by
Lieutenant General Bobby Mathews, General Officer Commanding, Konark Corps at a
book release function held at Hotel Chandra Inn, Jodhpur on 21 May 2015. The
function was Presided over by Dr Shyam Sakha ‘Shyam’, Former Director Haryana
Sahitya Academy and attended by large number of Academicians, Poets and
Military & Civil dignitaries. The event was hosted by Maj Gen Sudhir S
Jakhar, Chief of Staff Konark Corps and Mrs Alka Jakhar.
The author Ajit Singh
was born on 09 Feb 1925 in a small village Gochi in Jhajjar District of
Haryana. He served in the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Border Roads
Organisation (BRO) for 41 years retiring as a Gazette Civilian Officer (CO-1)
in 1983. His distinguished career saw him on the front lines of combat while
with the Army (in the Second World War) and later in the most difficult
terrains while serving with the BRO.
The book ‘Reflections of A Soldier’ is compilation of
English Poems written over a period of five decades, which express the
importance of duty, valour, brotherhood, honesty, love, friendship,
faith, patriotism and duty of
a Soldier to the Nation and to the people. The poems are full
of emotions having deep meaning. Style of these poems is unique, since
jotted down by a soldier, an officer of the Indian Army. The book will inspire
readers of all ages to understand the emotions , feeling of a soldier as
witnessed through various events of history of India. It will also enrich the
society in general and literature in a special way.
