Jaipur,Chief
Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje has called upon public representatives of all
parties, officers, social organisations and people of Rajasthan to work
collectively for the success of Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan. She asked
to come forward and contribute for the harvesting and conservation of water
keeping in view the depleting underground water level and insufficient surface
water available in the state.

Raje was addressing the sensitization workshop organised for MPs, MLAs and
other public respresentatives at the conference hall of Indira Gandhi
Panchayati Raj Sansthan on Wednesday. The Chief Minister said Rajasthan covers
11% land in the country but has only 1% of total available water. The state has
insufficient amount of surface water and to increase surface water and ground
water level we have to conserve available water and harvest rain water, she
said.
The
Chief Minister said Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan is not a government programme, it is
a public movement which require participation from MPs, MLAs and other public
representatives from all parties, officers, social organizations, religous
organizations & trusts, NGOs and people of Rajasthan. She said all of us
have to work collectively for the success of the campaign so that people of the
villages selected for the initial phase of the campaign can get benefit during
the coming monsoon season.
Smt.
Raje said water conservation activities will increase ground water level, dry
water bodies would get water and water flow from one river basin to other river
basin will make dry rivers alive. She said out of 16.05 cubic meter rain water
4 cubic meter water goes waste which is a matter of concern. She said along
with water conservation and watershed activities the state government is
willing to set up a drinking water grid to increase ground water level in the
state.
The
Chief Minister said Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has also noticed the
efforts being made by the state government for water conservation through this
campaign. She said a list should be prepared about the proposed visit of
ministers-in-charge, MPs, MLAs and other public representatives in the villages
during the campaign. She asked public representatives to meet people and make
people aware about the water conservation to ascertain active participation of
people during the campaign.
After
the appeal made by the Chief Minister regarding contribution for the
Mukyamantri Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan Union Ministers from Rajasthan, members of
council of ministers of Rajasthan, MPs, MLAs, Mayors, Jila Pramukhs, Chairmans
of various Boards and Commissions, other public representatives, members of IAS
& RAS Associations, other officers and engineers of PHED & Watershed
departments made announcement for their contribution.
In
the beginning of the workshop Chairman of Rajasthan River Basin Authority Shri
Sriram Vedire gave detailed presentation about the outlines and objectives of
the campaign. He said this campaign will also provide base for the Prime
Minister Krishi Sinchai Yojana.
During
the workshop Chairperson of of IEC Implementation Cell & Minister for Water
Resources Dr. Ram Pratap, Chairperson of Public Representative Co-ordinnation
Cell & Panchayati Raj Minister Shri Surendra Goyal, Chairperson of
Religious Trust Co-ordination Cell and PHED Minister Smt. Kiran Maheshwari, Chairperson
of Social Group Co-ordination Cell and Medical & Health Minister Shri
Rajendra Rathore, Chairperson of Corporate Co-ordination Cell and Industry
Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Khimsar, Chairperson of NGO Co-ordination Cell and
Social Justice Minister Shri Arun Chaturvedi, Chairperson of Forest
Co-ordination Cell and Agriculture Minister Shri Prabhu Lal Saini gave
presentation about the efforts made by the concerned cell and progress of the
preparations for the campaign.
Secretary,
DoIT Shri Akhi Arora informed that an online system and a web
application has been prepared to run activities of the campaign. He informed
that Rajasthan will be given Golden Award at National Level for best works done
for financial inclusion through Bhamashah Yojana. During the open session
public respresentatives gave useful suggestions regarding watershed programme
in villages.
Union
Ministers of State from Rajasthan, Members of Council of Ministers, MPs from
Rajasthan, MLAs, Chairman of various Boards and Commissions, Jila Pramukhs,
Pradhans, Chief Secretary, ACS, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries of various
departments, Collectors and other government officers were also present during
the workshop.
