Jaipur, Lieutenant
General Abhay Krishna, took over the command of South Western Command of the
Indian Army at a solemn military ceremony held at Jaipur. He paid tributes to
the martyrs at the Prerna Sthal and later reviewed a Guard of Honour.
Lt.General Abhay
Krishna, was commissioned into the Rajputana Rifles in 1980 and has had an
outstanding professional career in every important military theatre of India.
In a career spanning over 37 years, he has tenanted active combat leadership
roles at every stage of command in the Army.
He has a distinct
service profile, covering all military theatres of India ranging from
counter-insurgency / anti-terrorism operations both in Eastern and Northern
Commands, commanding troops in High Altitude Areas of Ladakh & Sikkim to
mechanized operations in the deserts of Rajasthan and the plains of
Punjab. Prior to assuming command at
Jaipur, the General officer was commanding the largest Corps of the Indian Army
in the North East, bordering three countries.
On assuming Command,
the Army Commander extended his warmest greetings to all ranks of the Sapta
Shakti Command, Veer Naris and Veterans as well as their family members.
The General said that
taking over the command of the Sapta Shakti Command at Jaipur is indeed a special
honour. As the Colonel of the Rajputana Rifles, he is conscious of the fact
that the valiant people of Rajasthan have been always at the forefront of our
efforts at nation building and it’s defence. He has assured continued support
to the Government and Army’s continuing untiring efforts to ensure the safety
and security along the borders.
