Railway Sportspersons Shine again at CWG Glasgow-2014


New DeIhi, the recently concluded Commonwealth Games at Glasgow, a 46-member strong team of Indian Railway sportspersons (including 9 Coaches) as a part of Indian contingent represented the nation in various disciplines during the Games. Returning with a rich haul of 9 Medals, including 2 Gold, Silver and 3 Bronze Medals, Railway sportspersons have done especially well in Wrestling, Weightlifting and Boxing. 
While Sushil Kumar repeated his scintillating performance with another Gold Medal in the new weight catgory of 74 kg. Free style Wrestling; Rajeev Tomar took the Silver Medal in Men’s 125 Kg. Wrestling. In Weightlifting, Satish Sivalingam did it in style, lifting the Gold Medal with a new CWG record in 77kgs. Swati Singh in Women’s 53 kg. Weight and Omkar Otari in Men’s 9 kg won Bronze Medal in Weightlifting. In boxing, Mandeep Jagra won the Silver Medal in Men’s 69 kg. and Pinki Rani won Bronze Medal in 48-51 Kg. Ayomika Paul representing India, won a Silver Medal in Women’s 10 mtr. in rifle shooting. Chinglesana Singh was part of Indian Men’s Hockey squad which won the Silver Medal. Now all eyes are on the forthcoming Asian Games in Korea, where again Railway Sportspersons are expected to be a formidable part of the Indian contingent.
